What Makes Hyundai’s Electric Vehicles Among the Best of the Best

Hyundai has led the market in electric vehicles with great prices, excellent range and they’re gorgeous, too! Schomp Hyundai is very proud to offer them to Colorado drivers.
IONIQ 5
The IONIQ 5 took the automotive world by storm, sweeping the 2022 World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year awards. Just looking at it, you can see why design aficionados loved it: sleek, pared-down styling that is both muscular and graceful.
The IONIQ 5 also won Car and Driver’s first-ever EV of the Year award for 2022. C&D said, “…it sacrificed nothing to be different.”
But good looks are only part of the story.
- Range – EPA-estimated from 266 miles up to 303 miles, depending on model
- Power – 225 hp/168 kW and up to 320 hp/239 kW
- Charging – Ultra-fast 350-kW DC allows from 20%-80% in less than 20 minutes.
- Technology – 12.3” HD touchscreen navigation; 12/3” digital instrument cluster. Each trim level (SE, SEL, Limited) adds more standard tech and safety features.
- Right now, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is eligible for some great financial incentives – for purchased and leased vehicles.
IONIQ 6
The IONIQ 6 builds on the success of the IONIQ 5 and added to the luster. It also starred in the World Car Awards, winning the 2023 World Car of the Year, World Electric Car and World Car Design of the Year Awards. Wired said the IONIQ 6 “is a triumph in design and drive tech…” going into great detail about the aerodynamic design, which translates into impressive range.

KONA Electric
If you’re looking for an EV in a small SUV package, the KONA Electric is a perfect fit. Topspeed called it “The Perfect First EV,” because of range, charging speed and appointments. With three trim levels (SE, SEL, and Limited), it is among the most affordable EVs available in the U.S., beginning at less than $34k. The Hispanic Motor Press gave the 2023 Hyundai KONA and KONA Electric the City Car of the Year Award. The KONA Electric may be small, but it is mighty and, depending on which trim level you choose, it is packed with comforts and features.
- Range – ESP-estimated at 258 miles
- Power – 201 hp/150kW
- Charging – 10-80% in +/- 47 minutes with a Level III 100kW charger; 10-80% in +/- 64 minutes with a Level III 50kW Quick Charger; 10-100% in +/- 9 hours with a Level II 240V home charger. The KONA Electric also is equipped with regenerative braking that captures and stores energy in the battery.

- KONA Electrics are eligible for some attractive offers.
There’s More
Colorado has actually made tax credits available for several years – the amounts have varied by year. And additional tax credits are coming for some vehicles beginning in January 2024 through December 2029. These credits are specifically targeted at vehicles with an MSRP under $35,000.
While the information outlined here provides the basics, it’s very important to do your own research and perhaps consult a tax expert – we are not offering tax advice. The rules, spelled out in (almost) clear language – it’s the government, after all – are spelled out in this publication. You could also take a look at Drive Electric Colorado for more information.
Xcel Energy Rebates
In addition, Xcel Energy is offering some of its residential household customers rebates for buying or leasing pre-owned or new EVs.
- Qualifying households must have incomes equal to or below 60% of Colorado’s median income.
- Qualifying households must be enrolled in a state financial assistance program such as the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)
- Eligible EVs must be bought or leased from a Colorado auto dealership.
For more information, see the Xcel Energy EV Rebate website.
