The World Recognizes why the Hyundai IONIQ 5 May Be the Best Electric Yet

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has been getting a lot of buzz in the automotive world for its impressive looks, outstanding performance, and electric efficiency. But there’s buzz, and there is BUZZ!

The Hyundai IONIQ 5’s buzz officially became accolades with a trifecta of recognitions:

The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has also won the Car of the Year in both the United Kingdom and Germany. 

Change just a couple of letters in IONIQ 5, and you have ICONIC. And the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the epitome of iconic. It’s a standout in Schomp Hyundai’s lineup and a great addition to Hyundai’s expanding lineup of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), with cutting-edge design and technology. Edmunds.com says the 2022 IONIQ 5 “springs out of the gate with retro-themed styling and the latest in electric vehicle design. It’s also comfortable, practical and generously equipped” and gives it 8.3 out of 10 possible stars.

Who Decides the World Cars of the Year Winners?

More than 102 international automotive journalists from 33 countries comprise the jury for the annual World Cars of the Year Awards. They have reviewed the year’s automotive model launches. 

Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung described the IONIQ 5 and other winners from the Hyundai Motor Group as “game-changing electric vehicles,” and said they were part of a vision “to create a new world of mobility, where people can come together safely and sustainably.”

What Makes the IONIQ 5 a Winner?

The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the whole package. It is based on Hyundai’s innovative Electric Global Modular Platform with cutting-edge powertrain and charging technologies. It gets 303 miles on a full charge, and with 800V DC charging – “ultracharging” – it will go from 10% to 80% charged in 18 minutes. Using a 240V home charger, it will charge to 100% in less than seven hours. It’s available either as rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Reviewers have praised the comfortable seating, climate controls, and minimal road noise. And, of course, there’s that industry-leading warranty. 

The IONIQ 6 is coming this year, and there will be an IONIQ 7 in 2024. Hyundai plans to introduce 11 BEVs by 2030.
