Hyundai Proves Sedans Are Sexy with the 2024 Hyundai Sonata

September 30th, 2023 by

Mark Twain was famously – and wrongly – quoted as saying “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” The same can be said of the family sedan. For years SUVs, crossovers and pickups have surged, and automakers have responded by cutting from their product lines. But the latest information indicates that the sedan is anything but dead.

That’s one reasons we’re very excited that there’s a new, restyled 2024 Hyundai Sonata coming this winter. According to Carscoops.com, there’s a “generational ‘cool’ factor” influencing younger buyers because they “don’t want to be seen driving the same thing their parents had,” plus they are seen as better for the environment – more aerodynamic and with more available EV and hybrid sedans.

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata certainly fits the profile. CarandDriver.com called the refresh a “striking visual revision.” Motortrend.com called the front-end restyle anchored by Hyundai’s Seamless Horizon Lamp daytime running light a “sexy unibrow.” The rear also has been redesigned with a distinctive H-shaped taillight and black trim on the rear fascia.

And while looks certainly are a decided asset, it’s what’s hiding under the new sheet metal that counts:

  • Base 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, expected output ~ 191 hp/181 lb-ft of torque
  • N-Line turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, expected output  ~ 290 hp/311 lb-ft of torque
  • Hybrid model returns with 2.0-liter engine + electric motor offering 192 hp
  • HTRAC all-wheel drive available

The interior of the 2024 Sonata has been upgraded with a curved display that houses two 12.3” screens – a digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen plus driver’s head-up display. There’s a 12-speaker Bose® sound system and wireless phone and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Software updates come over the air.

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata gets the latest in safety technology, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist, Blind-spot Collision Assist, Safe Exit Warning and Safe Exit Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane-Following Assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control and Highway Driving Assist are available.  Remote Smart Parking Assist and Rear Occupant Alert are also available.

Not every Colorado driver wants or needs an SUV, and Schomp Hyundai has plenty of them, but we’re looking forward to demonstrating why sedans are making a comeback with the 2024 Hyundai Sonata – coming this winter.
