Experts Agree: Hyundai Vehicles Give Consumers Great Choices

In 2021, about 15 million cars and light trucks – including pickups and SUVs – were sold to U.S. consumers. Behind each purchase, there was a tough decision: which make and model was the right one?

And in its 2022 second-half rankings, Hyundai fared very well with 11 different Hyundai models in various categories.

  • Seven second-place rankings: 2022 Accent (subcompact sedan), 2023 Elantra (compact sedan), Sonata (midsize sedan), Sonata Hybrid (midsize hybrid sedan), Kona (subcompact SUV), Santa Fe (midsize SUV) and Santa Cruz (compact truck)
  • Two third-place rankings: 2023 Tucson Plug-In Hybrid and Palisade (3-Row SUV)

The Ultimate Car Rankings, which MotorTrend launched in 2020, evaluate the market and selects its winners in 45 different segments based on how they drive, their value and qualities including safety, efficiency, driving range, technology. 

“We recognize the most well-rounded vehicles available today, ones that are fun to drive, offer impressive tech, and have great long-term value ratings. Because buyers have high standards, we do, too,” said MT Buyer’s Guide Director Zach Gale. “Achieving excellence in MotorTrend’s Ultimate Car Rankings system is not easy, but first-place and top-ranked award winners are the best vehicles around.”

Hyundai’s performance in the rankings “highlights how our lineup exceeds nearly any customer need,” according to Director Product Planning for Hyundai Motor NA, Ricky Lao. “All of these vehicles have unique designs, upscale interiors, human-focused technology and advanced Hyundai SmartSense Safety features.”
