The All-New 2020 Hyundai Palisade Will Be Pretty Peachy
Summer in Colorado means Palisade. Okay, Coloradans look forward to Palisade peaches in the summertime, but this summer, at Schomp Hyundai, we also will be celebrating the arrival of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade.
The Hyundai Palisade is Hyundai’s newest eight-passenger sport utility vehicle. And just like its peachy namesake, it’s very sweet: early reviews from expert automotive editors at Car and Driver and Edmunds have given the Palisade pretty high marks. They’re using words like “standout styling,” “spacious,” “great visibility,” “high quality.”
The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a replacement for the Santa Fe XL and it comes with a raft of upgrades that should make customers looking for a three-row family ride very interested.
The three-row aspect is important. Not everyone is going to need to transport eight people routinely, but it’s nice to know it can be done comfortably. And when you need the extra cargo space, you can get power-assisted folding and unfolding. If you don’t need room for eight, you can opt for two captain’s chairs in the second row. Handsome quilted leather seats are a welcome option.
In the cockpit there’s a 10.3-inch touch screen and available head-up display. One great feature is the intercom system that the driver can use to communicate with the passengers in back, and its rear speakers can be switched off so the driver and front-seat passage can listen to their own music without “bothering” the kids in back. You get seven – count‘em – (7) USB ports so everyone can charge up while sipping beverages ensconced in one of the 16 cup holders.
The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a powerful SUV with a 291-hp, 3.8-liter V6, mated with an eight-speed automatic. The Palisade is also longer by about three inches than the Santa Fe XL. You can get it in front-wheel or all-wheel drive versions, and in the AWD version there are three driving modes plus a snow function that brings additional traction to bear – a welcome addition for Colorado drivers.
We know how important safety is, so it’s good to know there are plenty of standard “Intelligent” safety features on the Palisade:
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Rear cross-traffic warning and automatic braking
- Blind-spot warning
- Forward-collision avoidance
- Smart cruise control with stop & go
- Automatic high beams
A couple of great family safety features include the Safe Exist Assist that detects cars coming up from the rear and keeps the doors closed until it has passed, as well as an available rear-occupant alert system that lets you know via a text on your smartphone if you’ve mistakenly left a child or pet in the car.
Hyundai says the 2020 Palisade is “more than just a pretty face,” and clearly it is much, much more. We’re looking forward to seeing the 2020 Hyundai Palisade in just a couple of months at Schomp Hyundai on Havana. Consider this your invitation to come in to see it and drive it.
