Two Hyundais Vie for 2020 Honors as Best Car and SUV of the Year

December 9th, 2019 by

The Hyundai Sonata is a one of three 2020 North American Car of the Year finalists announced November 20 at the LA Auto Show’s AutoMobility LA. Not to be outdone, the Hyundai Palisade is also one of three finalists for 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The winners in each category, including the “2020 North American Truck of the Year,” will be announced January 13th at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next.

Fifty automotive journalists served as jurors in this 26th annual competition. They winnowed down a large field to 29 semi-finalists: 12 cars, 12 utilities and five trucks. Vehicles’ eligibility for the awards is based on whether they are all or substantially new and are available for sale at dealerships by the end of the calendar year.

“Every year, manufacturers continue to produce impressive styling and high-quality vehicles with improved safety, more features, more performance and better efficiency. Our job is to evaluate each eligible vehicle and help consumers make wiser choices by presenting the best in each category,” North American Car and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) President Lauren Fix said.

Semi-finalists are based on factors including:

  • Segment leadership
  • Innovation
  • Design
  • Safety
  • Handling
  • Driver satisfaction
  • Value for the price

NACTOY Secretary/Treasurer Kirk Bell said that competition in the utility category was especially tough because of the large number of entries from both mainstream and luxury vehicles, “including a strong set of three-row crossovers and a new electric SUV.”

Of course our client advisors at Schomp Hyundai on Havana are thrilled to be able to show off these two outstanding contenders, the Hyundai Sonata and Hyundai Palisade. They both offer huge advantages for Colorado drivers. Visit us and see for yourself: schomphyundai.com
