What to expect from the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N?

Affordable performance is a hot commodity. The Hyundai Veloster has always looked the part, but with the recent unveiling of the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N at the North American International Auto Show, the Veloster will outperform its aggressive design.

The Veloster has always had a semi-performance trim in the Veloster Turbo. It was, and will be again for 2019, energetic, quick, and fun to drive. The Veloster N is a new type of beast however, with its 2.0-liter T-turbo four-cylinder engine capable of producing 275 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 260 pound-feet of torque at 1,450 RPM. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the front wheels.

But the performance assets don’t stop there. With an electronically-controlled suspension, two-stage induction system, rear strut base, and rev matching, among other features, the Veloster N delivers for any performance-hungry driver.

The electronically-controlled suspension is especially unique. According to Hyundai “tuning is derived from a multi-mode electronically-controlled suspension with a track-focused N mode available.”

Using a load transfer control system, there is less dive during braking, better roll control while cornering, and less rear compression suspension during aggressive accelerations.

Unique styling for the performance-focused Veloster N

Up front, the grille and front fascia are distinct features on the Veloster N, setting it apart from the rest of the 2019 models. Ducts in the front, intended to assist in brake cooling, are also unique to the Veloster N.

In the rear, you’ll find a sleek spoiler, lower fascia and dual exhaust pipes. And inside, there are special sport seats and N graphics on the steering wheel and shift knob.
