Hyundai Ioniq | 2018 Green Car of the Year Finalist

November 7th, 2017 by

The all-new Hyundai Ioniq has taken the hybrid and plug-in hybrid markets by storms this year, challenging long-time class-leaders like the Toyota Prius and overshadowing fellow newcomers like the Kia Niro. In recognition of the Ioniq’s excellence, it has been named a 2018 Green Car of the Year® finalist by Green Car Journal.

While a nomination already puts the Ioniq in elite company, you can keep tabs on whether or not our new eco-friendly cruiser wins the award on Thursday, November 30.

According to Green Car Journal, “the award reflects Green Car Journal’s examination of all vehicles, fuels and technologies in the space. Finalists are selected for their achievements in raising the bar for environmental performance based on the following factors: efficiency, performance characteristics,’newness,’ affordability and overall environmental achievement.”

The Hyundai Ioniq near Denver, CO has certainly raised the bar. As the first eco-focused car to offer three unique electric powertrains on a single platform, the Ioniq is changing the game. Available as a traditional hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a pure electric model, the Ioniq goes beyond the expectations that have been set in the eco-friendly segment.

The winner of the Green Car of the Year award will be selected through a majority vote from a panel of prestigious judges, which features Green Car Journal editors, and even Jay Leno!
